I actually had never made my own roast before this recipe. For some reason I always thought it was A) hard, and B) time consuming. This was neither. And totally mouth watering!
The roast with gravy...
The pulled pork!
Ingredients:
A 2-3 lb pork roast (boneless or bone in, doesn't matter)
2/3 cup grated or shredded parmesan cheese (I used shredded)
2/3 cup honey
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp dried basil
2-3 tbsp minced garlic (I prefer fresh)
2 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
2/3 cup flour
In a medium bowl, combine cheese, honey, soy sauce, basil, garlic, oil, and salt.
Spray your crock pot with non stick spray (or pour a little olive oil in and spread it round with a napkin). Put your roast in, and pour the wet mix over it. Cover it, and cook on low for 6-7 hours or until the temp is 160 degrees. I always buy pork roast from Von's and they come with a pop up timer that tells you when it's done! If you are home, you can spoon the juices over the roast throughout cooking but it's not necessary.
Once done, remove your roast and place if on a large plate or serving platter. Leave the juices in the crockpot. Then in a medium pan, brown your flour over medium heat. Basically you just put the flour in the pan and keep stirring until its a golden brown (if you skip this step, your gravy will not taste good). Once it's browned, gradually pour in your juices from the crock pot and stir, stir, stir, until its well combined.
Next, slice your roast and pour it over! After dinner, you can shred up your meat to make pulled pork. It should just fall apart.
